In 2013, Salisbury East High School commenced a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program, permitting students to bring a computing device (laptop or tablet) to school to aid their studies.
Students working at school wirelessly connect into our network to access all the programs we run at SEHS. Students working at home can also connect into our network through their personal internet connection to access the programs.
These programs are free to use, and are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including:
In order for students to connect into our network SEHS created a ‘virtual environment’, which is called the VDI.
For students to connect into our network servers and access the virtual environment at school and at home they need to download a program to their computer.
In order to do this, the following steps should be followed:
1. Log-on to a computer
2. Open an Internet browser window
3. In the browser's address bar, paste or type the following URL: http://view.sehs.sa.edu.au
4. Download VMware Horizon Client
5. Product downloads page:
When prompted for a server connection, choose: view.sehs.sa.edu.au
6. Click Download>Run
7. Follow the various prompts
If you experience any issues, please contact the school and our IT Technicians will support you. Alternatively, students can bring their computer to school and the technicians will install the program for them.
Some students who do not have their own computing device are able to borrow a laptop from the school on an annual basis for a nominal fee. Laptop borrowing forms are available from the school's front office.
Laptops are also available for Year 12s to borrow on a daily basis and are available from the resource centre when their student ID is shown.
More information on laptop hire is available by clicking here.
