Bring Your Own Device and VDI

In 2013, Salisbury East High School commenced a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program, permitting students to bring a computing device (laptop or tablet) to school to aid their studies.

Students working at school wirelessly connect into our network to access all the programs we run at SEHS. Students working at home can also connect into our network through their personal internet connection to access the programs.

These programs are free to use, and are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including:

  • Microsoft Office 2013 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Adobe Creative Cloud CS6 (Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Pro Engineer CAD
  • ePageCreator eBook
  • Daymap
  • Each student's personal directory with their school files

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)

In order for students to connect into our network SEHS created a ‘virtual environment’, which is called the VDI.

Downloading the VDI to your computer

For students to connect into our network servers and access the virtual environment at school and at home they need to download a program to their computer.

In order to do this, the following steps should be followed:

1. Log-on to a computer

2. Open an Internet browser window

3. In the browser's address bar, paste or type the following URL: http://view.sehs.sa.edu.au

4. Download VMware Horizon Client

5. Product downloads page:

  • 64-bit Windows
  • MAC
  • iOS
  • Android

When prompted for a server connection, choose: view.sehs.sa.edu.au

6. Click Download>Run

7. Follow the various prompts

If you experience any issues, please contact the school and our IT Technicians will support you. Alternatively, students can bring their computer to school and the technicians will install the program for them.
