The Specialist Music program at Salisbury East High School is an elective subject for students with a keen interest in Music who would like to learn a musical instrument.
Students who nominate to join the Specialist Music program are provided with lessons on an instrument through the DECD Instrumental Music Service. The students then develop their understanding of ensemble skills, and a range of theoretical topics through classroom Music lessons.
Instrumental Music lessons are currently offered on saxophone, flute, trumpet, clarinet, trombone, guitar, bass guitar, drums, voice, violin and cello.
Students who nominate to be a part of the Specialist Music program have the opportunity to be involved in a range of extra curricular ensembles, including the Salisbury East High School Concert Band, rock bands, woodwind, brass and vocal ensembles. These ensembles have successfully competed in the Balaclava Eisteddfod over a number of years.
The Concert Band performs regularly to the school and also at a range of community events. Students participating in the Concert Band also have the opportunity to participate in an annual tour to regional South Australia.
